"IF YOUR STOOLS SMELL HORRIBLE, YOU'RE SICK."

Q: What does it mean when people strain when they go to the toilet?
SETERS: Their stools are dry and they are constipated. Dry stools are synonymous with constipation. This means the fermenting fluids were squeezed out of the food and went back into the body.

Some people have such dry stools they have to stay in the bathroom 20-30 minutes or longer. They have reading rooms in the bathroom, full of dozens of magazines. I used to go maybe four times a day, and I would stay in there less than one minute each time. That's the way it should be. Your stools should be moist and dark brown. If they are light, this means your liver is not working. You should always look at your stools.

Q: Does foul breath come from the colon?
SETERS: It often does. You can scrub your mouth with mouthwash all day long and it usually won't help. Think about it. You are circulating all this dirty, filthy fluid from the colon throughout the body. Is this going to make a sweet-smelling mouth? I doubt it. Your whole body will smell.

Q: How long can food accumulate in the colon?
SETERS: Years and years. I speculate that the black lining or casing on the colon wall can remain there 4-5 years or longer. If you don't do anything about it, it will just stay there until you die. This black lining prevents the colon from breathing! Water cannot go in or out. This black casing can accumulate and get thicker. This is when you really get sick. I have never had this black casing come out of me but I have known people who have. I have talked to students who told me that on autopsies, they will cut the colon wall and find a black layer 1-2 inches thick. Sometimes they have found the colon to be 4-5 inches wide. So you know there must be a lot of crud in there.

Q:What are some of your classic cases?
SETERS: A 40-year-old nurse had a hysterectomy, after which all of her functions went crazy. She became so constipated that she could hardly go to the bathroom at all-just once every 2-3 days.

She was in such bad shape she had to take a laxative that caused a lot of painful griping, just to get some relief. She suffered like this for six months. Eventually, she was led to the colon formula by a friend. After a few capsules, she said "This was an answer to a prayer. I had no straining, no burning, it was just like it was supposed to be." Within a week, everything was back to normal.

I had another case, a 50-year-old school teacher, who lives down the street. Q:A reader from Baltimore told me that his chronic headaches left after he took the formula. Have you heard comments like that yourself, or was this an exception?
SETERS: I have heard similar stories. Many years ago, before I was an herbalist, my niece was over to my home. She told me suddenly she had to go home. She said she had a bad headache. I told her we had aspirin here and there was no reason to leave. She told me she had to go and take a laxative to clean out.

I said, "What!" She told me she always cleaned out her bowel whenever she got a headache. I never heard this before and told her she was weird! But sure enough, she went home, took the colon formula and an enema, and came back with no headache and was all smiles. And that's where I learned about this connection. Nothing will cause a headache as bad, or as quick, as a toxic bowel.

Q:Can you define diverticulitis for us? I know a lot of people suffer from this.
SETERS: This is a pocket on the outside of the colon wall. It's like a weak balloon and it gets full of toxins, worms and parasites. These are also called polyps. The Cascara in the formula helps because it gets the colon muscle to start contracting. This helps to remove the layers over the pockets and helps to break them up.

Q:One reader said she suffered from diverticulitis and took the formula for 3-4 days. Then she got a throbbing pain on her left side and stopped. What happened?
SETERS: The colon was trying to evacuate and it couldn't. This is what caused the pain. The garbage was trying to come out. She should just drink a lot of water and keep taking the formula. The pain will soon leave and the condition will eventually clear right up.

Q: Explain what colitis is.
SETERS: The best way I can explain it is that Colitis is basically inflammation of the colon. The bowel is trying to remove an irritation, usually pockets or polyps, by flushing it out with water. This condition of diarrhea can go on for years. The colon says, "Get this out of here. Get this out!" This formula is one of the best things in the world because it is mild, soothing and cleansing.

Q: A close friend in San Diego has gastritis. What is this problem and can the formula help?
SETERS: Gastritis is chronic gas in your stomach caused from a lack of digestive juices. Your food doesn't digest properly and it ferments. This causes the gas. The formula helps because it cleans out the bowel. A lot of the fermentation and gas comes from the colon. "Most people are walking septic tanks."

Q:What about Crohn's disease?
SETERS: An inflammation of the small intestine, just before it gets to the large intestine. The small intestine doesn't get clogged up as much as the large intestine, since the large intestine is the main receptacle. But if the large intestine backs up, the small intestine can get inflamed because of rotting food, so of course the formula would help

Q:One reader took the formula and said she passed a four inch movement covered with skin. What was this? A tumor?
SETERS: That skin looks like a plastic lining. This can come from years of eating bread, which decays in the colon. Do you know what wallpaper paste is made of? It's basically flour and water. Eating bread can often form layer after layer of paste in the colon. This is what the woman was passing. It actually looks like a layer of skin. Anything that forms a lot of mucus in the colon can cause the same thing.
