Lyme Disease Treatment – If Not Antibiotics, Then What?
The Problem with Antibiotic Treatment
Antibiotic therapy is an indispensable approach to dealing with bacterial infections. However, the overuse of antibiotics has led to multi-drug resistant bacteria. In addition, the use of antibiotics can greatly impact the gut microbiome of patients and affect various functions including immune regulation, metabolic activities, and thus overall health.
Then there are the unique circumstances surrounding Lyme disease. Borrelia, the causative pathogen in Lyme disease, is a spirochete that resembles a corkscrew. It is capable of burrowing deep into tissue and creating a protective biofilm that is highly resistant to antibiotics. While some Lyme patients report feeling better while undergoing antibiotics and the bacteria lays dormant, this is often later accompanied by a return of symptoms and feeling worse.
In the video above, Jenn Blake, a former Lyme disease patient, discusses her experience with antibiotics.
He started me on a ridiculous amount of antibiotics. And that went on for like eight or nine months until my body could not handle the antibiotic treatment anymore.
– Jenn Blake
So what options does someone suffering from Lyme disease have if antibiotic treatment does not work?
Alternatives to Antibiotics for Lyme
To understand treatment of Lyme disease requires an understanding of the mysterious disease itself. Multi-systemic, mutli-pathogenic, and expressing very uniquely in each individual, Lyme is a complex disease. That complexity simply cannot be addressed with generalized and one-size-fits-all protocols, such as antibiotics. A comprehensive and personalized approach is required.
There is no right answer to what Lyme disease treatment looks like. It should differ for each person based on their individual needs and underlying dysfunctions. Jenn shares her most impactful and difficult therapies that ultimately led her to overcome Lyme disease without antibiotics. From antimicrobial infusions, neural therapy, neuro-emotional technique, and NAD+ (nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide) IVs, her tailored program of treatment aimed to address all root causes and eliminate all pathogenic infections.
