Introduction to Bach Flower Remedies

Bach Flower Remedies are a purely natural healing method with over 38 different types of flower and plant remedies. These remedies tackle various areas of health or disease and help return the body to a harmonious state. In this harmonious state, the body is better equipped to heal since it is functioning as it should.

Benefits of Bach Flower Remedies

Developed in the 1930s, the 38 remedies were originally created by Dr. Edward Bach, a physician who believed that emotional well-being played a key role in overall wellness. This perspective was highly challenged at the time, especially amongst the medical community. However, as individuals today seek out alternative ways of healing, Bach Flower Remedies has become a popular go-to. And for a good reason!

According to the Bach Flower Remedies chart, these remedies are divided into 7 groups, helping treat conditions that fall under these groups. The 7 groups include:

  1. Loneliness
  2. Fear
  3. Uncertainty and indecisiveness
  4. Oversensitivity and easily influenced
  5. Despair and despondency
  6. Lack of interest in current situations
  7. Overcaring of other people and overthinking for the sake of others

For instance, water violet, impatiens, and heather are used to help alleviate loneliness. Water violet is thought to help create warmer relationships with others, strengthening your relatability. Impatiens is said to help treat impatience and understanding through calming and stress-reducing effects, which helps connect you with other individuals – even though you may prefer to work alone. Heather gives way to you allowing others to take the spotlight and also a more compassionate nature.

From these groupings and due to their all-natural ingredients, Bach Remedies are attached to a ton of benefits, including:

  • Simple and all-natural therapy alternatives
  • Easy application
  • Helping the body heal itself
  • No side effects
  • Can be combined with other therapies without hazard or issue
  • Can improve the outcome of other therapies
  • Can treat an array of diseases
  • Can help with a variety of mental health conditions, helping a person feel stronger and more capable

How Bach Flower Remedies work

“The main reason for the failure of the modern medical science is that it is dealing with results and not causes. Nothing more than the patching up of those attacked and the burying of those who are slain, without a thought being given to the real strong hold.”
– Dr. Edward Bach

In a way, the Bach Flower Remedies chart is designed to help individuals understand and re-balance emotional distress or imbalances. According to Bach Flower Remedies, it’s all about finding the right balance of remedies that work for you.

When you find the right combination, you can rebalance your emotional health. In turn, this will flood into all other aspects of health, including your physical health. It gives your body what it needs to heal naturally and effectively from disease, pain, or illness. Individuals have also reported that through the use of Bach Flower Remedies, they have achieved a higher state of calm. This can decrease the stress involved in health treatments or dealing with a diagnosis.

Behind the Science

Science & Safety

There is various evidence indicating the efficacy of Bach Flower Remedies when it comes to treating psychological problems and pain. A 2009 systematic review explores these topics in-depth. It also supports the safety of Bach Flower Remedies and their usage.

A 2007 study published in Complementary Therapies in Clinical Practice explored the relationship between reduced physical pain and Bach Flower Remedies. 46% of the participants noted pain improvements. Meanwhile, an astounding 88% of participants reported improvements in terms of their emotional outlook.

A 2015 study demonstrated the use of Bach Flower Remedies on individuals experiencing carpal tunnel syndrome. Researchers concluded that these remedies were an effective treatment for mild and moderate carpal tunnel syndrome, where it reduced symptoms and pain.

There has been limited evidence showing the effective use of Bach Flower Remedies on chronic depressive disorders. Limited evidence is used here since it refers to case studies and cannot scientifically be applied to a broader audience. More research is needed.

Smaller studies and case reports have indicated a need for more research studies to be completed on Bach Flower Remedies and their effect on menopausal symptoms and sleep patterns. So far, case reports show great promise.

What is BioCharger

The BioCharger NG is a hybrid subtle energy revitalization platform. Based on the revolutionary discoveries of top scientific minds (including Nikola Tesla, Georges Lakhovsky, Dr. Royal Raymond Rife, and Alexander Gurwitsch), it is able to transmit energy that stimulates and invigorates the entire body to optimize and improve potential health, wellness, and athletic performance. The BioCharger provides the benefits realized from pulsed electromagnetic fields, plasma gas technology, monochromatic light therapy, photon therapy, and micro-current technology, all at once. It is completely non-invasive and is shown to restore strength, stamina, coordination and mental clarity.

Benefits of BioCharger Therapy

  • Energy: The BioCharger NG will revitalize your body to perform at peak levels and increase energy levels.
  • Recovery: Whether it’s a workout, an injury, or stress-induced exhaustion, the BioCharger NG platform allows for quicker recovery time.
  • Improved Cellular Regeneration: The advanced technology helps reenergize weakened cells and revitalizes the body’s natural magnetic energy to align the mind and body, which helps to restore health and wellness.

How BioCharger NG Works

The wireless transmission of energy dates all the way back to Nikola Tesla and George Lakhovsky. In 1988, Jim Girard researched an advanced application of subtle energy technologies to accomplish what numerous top scientific minds had believed were the key to restoring health and wellness: to provide a wide enough bandwidth of frequencies and pulsed harmonics so that cells with very weak vibrations are placed in the field of multiple vibrations, find their own frequency, and start to oscillate normally through the phenomenon of resonance. Shortly thereafter, Girard seized a unique opportunity to study and conduct research with Orville Fitz, a former protégé of Tesla in his later years. Girard was fascinated by these concepts and had the vision to experiment by controlling and combining these legacy technologies, which inspired the development of the original BioCharger.

For a better understanding of how BioCharger works on the human body, we need to look at the building blocks of our bodies – cells. Every cell in the body has a measurable difference in electrical voltage across the outer cell membrane. This voltage is called the trans-membrane potential, and it powers proper cell function, regulating the intake of nutrients and elimination of waste from the cell.

Nobel prize winner Otto Von Warburg confirmed that normal, healthy cells have trans-membrane potentials of approximately 70 to 100 millivolts, while fatigued, impaired, and sick cells exhibit progressively lower voltages, which drop to as low as 15 millivolts in cancerous, diseased cells. The BioCharger platform generates a rich electromagnetic energy field that bathes the whole body simultaneously, from head to toe – brain matter to bone marrow. This field replicates a full spectrum of natural frequencies that exist in the terrestrial atmosphere all around us, all the time. Each molecule, cell, or organ of the body has  unique electromagnetic frequency and signature, so if a cell or organ is imbalanced, it’s normal frequency is slightly altered and detuned. By broadcasting a rich electromagnetic field that inherently includes each cell’s normal healthy frequencies, the BioCharger re-introduces the optimum energy blueprint and its optimal resonate frequency. BioCharger wirelessly restores energy to depleted cells and takes just 5-15 minutes per session. Most people feel very relaxed and tranquil during a session. It’s recommended to think of a single intention during a session, generally focusing on overcoming whatever challenge you are facing. There is little question that our thoughts and emotions can affect our health, wellness or healing process in a positive or negative way. People who focus on a single intention repeatedly, report feeling rejuvenated, more mental clarity, happier and typically sleep better.

Introduction to Biofeedback Therapy

Biofeedback therapy is a non-invasive treatment technique that involves using technology to retrain patients to control involuntary physiological and neurological processes that are causing symptoms and leading to dysfunctions in the body such as muscle tension, blood pressure, or irregular heartbeat. The purpose of biofeedback is to promote a more effective mental and physical response to stress. Stress has been shown to impact nearly every system and organ in the body and is a contributor to a vast number of chronic illnesses.

There are several different biofeedback methods including:

  • Electromyography (EMG), which measures muscle tension
  • Thermal biofeedback, which measures skin temperature
  • Neurofeedback or electroencephalography (EEG), which measures brain wave activity

Benefits of Biofeedback Therapy

Clinical experience has shown that biofeedback therapy may be used for a number of conditions and issues and that the benefits include:

  • Enhances and strengthens the mind-body (psychophysiological) connection
  • Helps to identify tight muscles and helps to learn to relax those muscles
  • Shows how the body reacts to stress and anxiety and helps to control these processes
  • Helps women strengthen the muscles that control urinary incontinence
  • Eases stress level and reduces headaches
  • Reduces frequency and severity of tension and migraine headaches
  • Improves control over heart rate variability and arousal of the sympathetic nervous system; a neuro-cardio combination responsible for many of the physical effects of someone’s stress response
  • Improves biorhythmic activity and sleep patterns

Here’s How Biofeedback Works

Biofeedback therapy works by altering one’s awareness/consciousness of how the mind interacts with the body (a field of science known as Psycho-Neuro-Immunology / PNI, or Psycho-Neuro-Endocrine-Immunology / PNEI), adjusting states of arousal and improving the ability to respond effectively to stress and mental activity.

Each cell in our body vibrates at precise frequencies and exchanges information through the communication of these frequencies. Therefore, we have the ability through specialized scientific bioresonance techniques to detect and correct bioenergetic imbalances in the body. Biofeedback is one of the therapies available to help correct a patient’s imbalances and physiological impulses.

The major appeal of biofeedback is that it pre-emptively teaches the patient a set of skills that can be used for life – without side effects. For example, it allows patients to identify early signs of stress so that corrections may be made before biochemical actions are triggered and physical symptoms occur.

During a biofeedback session, electrodes are attached to the skin at multiple locations, and finger sensors may often be utilized. These electrodes/sensors send signals to a monitor, which displays a sound, flash of light, or image that represents heart and breathing rate, blood pressure, skin temperature, sweating, or muscle activity.

When under stress, these physiological functions will fluctuate. Any number or combination of chain reactions may occur, including increased heart rate, elevated blood pressure, perspiration, quickened breathing, etc. These fluctuating functions are presented to the patient on the monitor, and then a practitioner guides or coaches a patient to correct the fluctuations. Over time, a practitioner may select a number of relaxation exercises that will help to fine-tune bodily functions and reactions, and can be used to alleviate symptoms and health complaints of the patient. The aim is to calm the body’s autonomic nervous system, which raises blood pressure and heart rate during periods of stress.

Most biofeedback therapy sessions take about 30 to 60 minutes. The treatment usually lasts two to three months in order to provide the most benefits.

Several different relaxation exercises are used in biofeedback therapy, including:

  1. Breathing exercises
  2. Progressive muscle relaxation – alternately tightening and then relaxing different muscle groups
  3. Guided imagery – concentrating on a specific image (such as the color and texture of an orange) to focus your mind and make you feel more relaxed
  4. Mindfulness meditation – focusing your thoughts and letting go of negative emotions

Behind the Science

Science & Safety

Some evidence suggests that heart rate variability (HRV) biofeedback might be an effective way to treat anxiety and stress symptoms. To examine the effect of HRV biofeedback on symptoms of anxiety and stress, we conducted a meta-analysis of studies extracted from PubMed, PsycINFO and the Cochrane Library. Conclusion: HRV biofeedback training is associated with a large reduction in self-reported stress and anxiety. Although more well-controlled studies are needed, this intervention offers a promising approach for treating stress and anxiety with wearable devices.

The analysis of studies indicates that EEG Biofeedback/Neurofeedback is used for treatment of neurological, somatic and mental disorders. Its psychiatric applications for clinically diagnosed disorders include treatmentof depression, anorexia, dyslexia, dysgraphia, ADD, ADHD, schizophrenia, abuse of substances, neuroses, PTSD, and Alzheimer’s disease. Research results imply that the neuromodulating effect of the therapy positively influences cognitive processes, mood, and anxiety levels. Positive effects of EEG Biofeedback confirm usefulness of this method as a main or auxiliary method in treatment of people with mental disorders. On the basis of conducted studies, it is worthwhile to consider inclusion of this method into the comprehensive neurorehabilitation activities.

What is Biomagnetic Therapy?

Biomagnetic therapy, also called biomagnetic pair therapy or terrain restoration therapy, is a natural and safe treatment that uses magnets of medium intensity. The goal is to equalize the organism’s pH level – a critical determinant of health.

What’s the big deal about pH balance in the body? In order for us to survive, we require two critical things to happen.

Our bodies must maintain a temperature of approximately 98.6 degrees Fahrenheit and a pH very close to 7.4, which is just on the alkaline side of neutral.

Just like a swimming pool requires a balanced pH to ward off algae (too alkaline) while not irritating skin and eyes (acidic), the body’s pH must be balanced in order to maintain health.

Large number of complex diseases, including cancer, are associated with changes in the pH level in the internal organs and with the presence of viruses, bacteria, fungus, parasites, toxins, and other harmful factors. On the other hand, the development of illness cannot develop with a balanced pH level, and biomagnetic therapy aims to restore pH balance.

Biomagnetic therapy is different from magnetic therapy and magnetic acupuncture. Unlike these two, biomagnetic pair therapy uses pairs of magnets of opposite charges to depolarize areas in the body that are unbalanced due to pathogens or other factors that resonate energetically and vibrationally.

Benefits of Biomagnetic Therapy

Clinical experience has shown that biomagnetic therapy may be used for a number of conditions and issues. These benefits include:

  • Neutralizes pH and creates an environment that is inhospitable to pathogens.
  • Correction of the intracellular energetic and ionic conditions
  • Completely natural, painless, easy, and non-invasive.
  • No side effects, and it may be easily used in conjunction with both conventional and alternative treatments.
  • Targets the root cause of the pain/disease rather than only the symptoms.
  • Results can often be seen in a few minutes, days, or sometimes in a few weeks.

How Biomagnetic Therapy Works

Pathogens appear when there are fundamental distortions in the pH level. A body that is too acidic (hyperacidity / low pH) is prone to viral and fungal infection and degenerative processes. A body that is too alkaline (hyper-alkalinity / high pH) is subject to inflammation, swelling, pain, and bacterial and parasitic infections.

Taking the understanding of pH in the body a step further, we can see that the process of pH imbalance begins at the cellular level with the exchange of ions through the membrane. This bioelectric act occurs in all the cells of the body. If we take a blood sample, eliminate the fluid until we have only the red blood cells left, and then apply a magnet, we can see in the microscope how the cells turn and point in one direction – the magnet polarizes the cell’s ions.

In other words, if we correct the ionic alteration through the use of magnets with a minimum of 1,000 gauss, specially placed on the body through biomagnetic therapy, the local pH may be neutralized, changing the environment from a pathogen- friendly one to one it cannot survive in. In this manner, biomagnetic therapy is considered effective at restoring the biological terrain (internal milieu), a tenant of European biological medicine, and aiding in the neutralization and elimination of viral, bacterial, fungal, and parasitic infections that are often thought as initiating factors in many modern diseases and conditions.

The coupled magnetic placement areas have been found to be energetically connected and have a bi-focal relation, and placement of one positive polarity (indicated by red on the magnet face) and one negative polarity (indicated by black on the magnet face) magnet on the body for approximately 15 – 20 minutes is capable of re-establishing the acidic-alkaline balance. Complex conditions may require multiple pairs to improve pH balance. More on the relational pairing of magnets for specific diseases and dysfunctions, one can read “Bioenergetic Basics: The Art of Dynamic Wellness with Goiz Biomagnetic Pairs.“

Behind the Science

Science & Safety

Dr. Goiz, the founder of Biomagnetism, has claimed to have successfully treated more than 350,000 patients with the therapy and has trained more than 20,000 physicians and other health professionals from many different countries.

According to a recent study, “It is common to find patients diagnosed with URI while they are undergoing all kinds of medical treatments, it is however very important to detect these infections in their early stages and treat them accordingly. We provide this report to show the importance and benefits of providing Biomagnetism therapy in these cases to shorten the treatment length and avoid unfavorable results. This will not only benefit the patient, reduce costs but also help avoid adverse effects. This clinical case will help research development of this new medical science, since it allows us to find an endless number of similar pathogens and/or specific ones, while providing great results and favorable outcomes.

This therapy is risk-free and should only be used with precaution in the case of patients with pacemakers (to not wear down the battery), pregnant women and patients who have undergone chemotherapy in the past 12 months. It is best to use magnets under the guidance of a trained professional for best results. Biomagnetic therapy can be used in conjunction with any other kind of complementary therapy and traditional allopathic treatments.

ACMOS is an acronym derived from the “Analysis of the Compatibility of Matter on the Organism and its Synergy“. This unique approach combines the wisdom of ancient traditional medicine with the scientific discoveries of modern molecular biology and is often referred to as needle-less acupuncture.

In essence, it relieves energetic blockages that lead to symptoms and dysfunction in the body. The elimination of the blockages will allow the vital energy to reach the organs and the functions which were blocked and, therefore, to re-establish their vitality in relation to the amount of evacuation of the toxic blockages. A person whose energy balance is regularly checked is more likely to remain in good health, since any deficiencies are detected and corrected in due time.

Introduction to Bioptron Light Therapy

Bioptron Light Therapy, or Hyperlight Therapy System, is a patented and clinically proven treatment method used to treat many common problems and concerns. Bioptron light therapy is a polarized light treatment, meaning it can penetrate the skin to provide results to deep tissue, cells, and muscles. There is no ultraviolet light involved with Bioptron hyperpolarized light therapy so there is no risk of burning or tanning effects of the skin.

Bioptron Light therapy supplies light therapy with five specific features:

  • Linear polarized light
  • Hyperpolarized light
  • Polychromatic light
  • Incoherent light
  • Low-energy light

By using these features, Bioptron light therapy can stimulate as well as accelerate healing.

Benefits of Bioptron Light Therapy

There are many proven benefits of Bioptron light therapy, with a major benefit being wound healing. Bioptron light therapy can treat wounds caused from trauma, surgery, and burns.

Wounds caused by venous leg ulcers, pressure ulcers, and diabetic foot ulcers can take an extremely long time to heal based on the nature of the wound. Bioptron light therapy helps accelerate wound healing by accelerating the process in which cells are repaired. Bioptron light therapy also helps reduce the risk of infection which is often a major set back with chronic wound healing.

In addition to wound healing, Bioptron light therapy can reduce pain caused by arthritis, sports injuries, and wounds in as little as a ten minutes session.

Pain caused by poor circulation is addressed with Bioptron light therapy thanks to its ability to increase blood flow and increase oxygen levels.

There are many dermatologic and anti aging benefits of Bioptron light therapy. BIoptron light therapy supports healthy skin cell production, improves the body’s ability to repair damaged skin cells, and reduces inflammation. This can be extremely helpful in treating acne, eczema, gum disease, and cold sores to name a few.

By stimulating collagen production to the surface of the skin, the resulting effect is smoother skin with fewer fine lines and wrinkles. Bioptron therapy reduces blemishes and discoloration caused by sun damage and free radicals by increasing circulation to the surface of the skin.

Sports injuries can become chronic if not treated properly. Bioptron Hyperlight therapy helps reduce inflammation and stimulate rapid healing of many common sports injuries. Muscle spasms, sprains, tendonitis, and tennis elbow are a few of the many common sports injuries Bioptron light therapy can help treat by reducing pain and reducing healing time.

How Bioptron Light Therapy works

When exploring how Bioptron light therapy works, understanding the advanced technology is necessary. The device uses something called Tesla Hyperlight Optics® which integrates within its optics a substance called C60. C60 is also called Buckminsterfullerene and is a type of fullerene that contains 60 carbon atoms that form a structure that looks like a hollow soccer ball. The unique structure allow light to interact in a way that twists it at a near-inconceivable 18 billion times per second. This unprecedented, perfectly-ordered Hyperpolarized Light, called Quantum Hyperlight, with its unique photon pattern, arranged by the Fibonacci Law, is the ideal energy-structure/symmetry that is fully compatible with our biostructures.

Clinically proven and certified for the medical treatment of pain, Bioptron Hyperlight Therapy penetrates deep into the tissue, accelerating healing, radically reducing inflammation and promoting blood circulation. The therapy decreases the production of pro-inflammatory cytokines, such as TNF-α, and increases anti-inflammatory cytokines, such as TGF –β and IL-10, in the irradiated region, reducing locally the inflammation of the affected epithelium (Falus et al., 2011, Zhevago, 2006). These cytokines are also implicated in the processes of chronic inflammation. In addition, Bioptron reduces pain by stimulating the production of nitric oxide, which decreases the over-stimulation of somatic peripheral nerves and increases vasodilatation, diminishing in parallel the ischemic pain (Gaspariyan et al., 2005; Samoilova et al., 2008).

When treating wounds, Bioptron Hyperlight Therapy stimulates fibroblasts, which are vital cells needed in the wound healing process. When a wound is treated with Bioptron, fibroblasts are mobilized to the wound and speeds up the cellular regeneration process.

Bioptron light therapy penetrates deep into the skin and produces a biological response, called photobiostimulation. This increases collagen production which is how it assists in connective tissue repair, reducing fine lines and wrinkles, and increasing elasticity in the skin. This function improves wound healing and helps restore the skin’s appearance.

A 2018 study evaluating the effects of polarized polychromatic light on pediatric scars caused by burns, showed drastic improvement in scar score based on the Vancouver Scar Scoring system. By assessing vascularity, color, thickness, and pliability of the scar – patients treated with light therapy had greater improvement than the control group. Patients were between 3 and 7 years old (total of 30 patients) with no reported adverse events.

Bioptron hyperpolarized light therapy was shown to reduce pain and improve function dn strength in a study of 25 patients with chronic rotator cuff tendinopathy. The trial compared patients utilizing an exercise program alone versus exercise program plus polarized polychromatic noncoherent light. No side effects were reported during or after this trial.

A study done with mice showed the use of Bioptron light therapy to be as effective for pain relief as many over the counter pain medications like ibuprofen (Motrin). When light therapy and the pain medication were combined, pain relief was enhanced as well. Although this trial was done in mice, it shows promise for the use of Bioptron therapy as an alternative or complementary treatment for pain.

Introduction to Chelation Therapy

Chelation therapy (pronounced key-LAY-shun) has been used as a treatment (either oral or intravenous) for removing heavy metals from the blood since the 1950s. Chelation involves the use of compounds to bind to specific heavy metals, including mercury, lead, cadmium, and arsenic, and remove them from the body. It involves intravenous injections of a chelating agent, typically EDTA (ethylene diamine tetra-acetic acid), which binds to heavy metals and minerals in the blood so that the body can then eliminate them.

With the expanding use of heavy metals in manufacturing processes, these toxic substances are finding ways into the human body. Heavy metals include single atoms of compounds of the following elements: lead, mercury, iron, copper, manganese, cadmium, arsenic, nickel, aluminum, silver, and beryllium. Heavy metals are extremely toxic to a patient’s body and even a single atom can wreak devastating havoc on cells, organs, neurological functioning, and many other systems of the body. Some heavy metals are more dangerous than others (such as mercury, arguably the most dangerous of the heavy metals).

Today, heavy metal toxicity is a growing problem. For instance, if many people have mercury fillings in their teeth, have been vaccinated, eat farm-raised fish or chicken regularly, consume processed food, or have gone through radiation and chemotherapy treatments, they may be experiencing heavy metal toxicity at this very moment. It is well known that heavy metals are difficult to remove from the system, and chelation therapy may be an excellent alternative to detoxify and restore the body.

Chelation therapy has shown promise in successfully improving the health of patients with such disorders as peripheral vascular disease, Alzheimer’s disease, multiple sclerosis, amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, autism, and other chronic and complex conditions.

Benefits of Chelation Therapy

Clinical experience has shown that chelation therapy may be used for a number of conditions and issues and that the benefits include:

  • Reduces inflammation by fighting free radical damage and removing metals
  • Lowers the presence of plutonium radiation toxicity within the body, which is tied to increase cancer risk
  • Controls levels of various environmental toxins
  • Prevents/reverses hardening of the arteries by reducing the generating of toxic metals and stimulating parathyroid hormone activity, resulting in the removal of calcium and plaque buildup
  • Restores the healthy, normal distribution of essential nutritional minerals and metallic elements (chromium, cobalt, zinc, etc.) within cells

Here is How Chelation Therapy Works

Since the Industrial Revolution, the use of heavy metals has greatly escalated. Due to the common practices of using heavy metals in technological devices (lead, mercury, and arsenic are used in microchips and batteries of cell phone) and their prominence in modern agriculture (heavy metals are a major component in inorganic fertilizers and pesticides), as well as increased rates in food supply, heavy metal exposure continues and is increasing in many parts of the world.

Once in the body, heavy metals can have very detrimental effects on numerous systems and organs and are contributing factors to conditions like heart disease, thyroid problems, dementia, neurological and degenerative conditions, autism, infertility and birth defects.

Chelation offers an effective clinical manner to remove heavy metals that otherwise are stored in the kidneys, blood, spleen, brain, liver, bones and fatty tissues. Of the two methods, intravenous chelation is quicker and more effective, as oral chelation involves taking supplements that contain the binding agents over a longer period of time. After administration of the drug into a patient (whether orally or intravenously), the chelating agent works by binding to heavy metal particles and the complex is then removed from the body through normal excretory methods (urination, sweat, etc). The chelating process also removes vital nutrients such as vitamins C and E, so additional supplementation may be necessary while undergoing treatment.

Let’s take a closer look at these methods:

Oral Chelation

Oral chelation is a safe and effective way for many people to detoxify. Frequently, oral chelators are given to people while intravenous chelations are performed as supplemental and supportive agents to overall detoxification. EDTA (ethylenediaminetetraacetic acid) is a safe oral chelator used by many to detoxify, which will be thoroughly covered in the intravenous section. Other oral chelators include Vitamin C, garlic, cilantro, chlorella, as well as pleomorphic remedies such as Pleo-Chelate. In addition, many people take oral supplements that support and nourish the body and the vital organs while it is going through a detox program. These supplements are also safe to take any time since they are supportive of the body’s natural processes and vital detox organs (liver, kidneys, lymphatic system, etc.). Specialized biological medicines, such as spagyric medicine, can also be very effective for chelation since they support the organs responsible for detoxification.

Intravenous Chelation

There are several different types of intravenous chelation. Some provide general detoxification of heavy metals while some are more specific to a certain heavy metal such as lead or mercury. They all involve receiving an I.V. drip (or push) directly into the vein for an extended period of time, usually anywhere from half an hour to 3 hours depending on the chelating agent and desired speed of the drip. The more effective and specific the I.V. drip is, the shorter the time period. Chelation treatment should never be rushed because it does take time for the chelators to be administered into the body and work properly. Before chelation is started, a complete medical workup is performed. Complete chemistry panels for blood, thyroid, kidney, and liver function are standard. The main active chelating agent in intravenous infusions is EDTA (ethylene diamine tetra-acetic acid), a synthetic amino acid. EDTA binds to heavy metals and minerals in the blood so that they can be excreted in the urine. The two main types of EDTA are calcium and magnesium; calcium being the more effective in that it doesn’t deplete the body of calcium. Vitamin C is also a powerful chelating agent and used by some doctors. Another intravenous agent used by some physicians for mercury detoxification is called DMPS (2,3-Dimercapto-1-propanesulfonic acid). Along with the chelating agents, certain other nutrients are also introduced in the infusion, used as a “piggyback” to the chelating agent. These include magnesium chloride, ascorbic acid, vitamin B12, B complex, and multi-mineral compounds. This is often done to replenish the body as it flushes out more than just toxins.

In summary, chelation therapy is a chemical process in which a chelating agent is introduced into the bloodstream to help remove heavy metals and toxins from the body. Chelation means “to bind”, and when the chelating agent enters the body, whether intravenously or orally, it binds with heavy metals and toxins such as lead, mercury, copper, iron, arsenic, aluminum, and calcium and the compound that is created is ushered out of the body.

It is advised that practitioners utilize a method of personalization to increase the effectiveness of chelation therapy and avoid side-effects that may come from intensified heavy metal detoxification.

Behind the Science

Science & Safety

The National Institutes of Health (NIH) sponsored a study designed to determine the safety and efficacy of EDTA chelation therapy for individuals with prior heart attacks. The goal was to detect if there are any moderate benefits or risks associated with the therapy. The research has shown that 40 infusions of disodium EDTA reduced the risk of some cardiac events in adults who had previously experienced a heart attack.

Research also shows that chelation therapy can successfully treat neurodegenerative diseases, including Alzheimer’s disease and Parkinson’s disease. While the exact mechanisms in which EDTA helps resolve these problems have not been conducted in studies, there seems to be a connection between heavy metal toxicity, including high levels of mercury or lead, and neurodegenerative disorders that affect the brain, memory and learning.

The most common side effect of chelation therapy is a burning sensation at the site where the drug is injected into the vein. When used properly in response to a diagnosis of harm from metal toxicity, side effects of chelation therapy include dehydration, low blood calcium, harm to kidneys, increased enzymes as would be detected in liver function tests, allergic reactions, and lowered levels of dietary elements. Infrequently, reversible kidney injury has been reported. Other serious side effects can occur if EDTA is not administered by a trained health professional.
